Korotchenko: Estonian pirates should wash themselves in snot and blood
Russia must ensure the safety of international shipping in the Baltic Sea.
Military expert Igor Korotchenko stated this on air at KP radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We need to strengthen the potential of the Baltic Fleet. So that captains of seagoing ships, container ships, tankers heading to and from Russian ports in international waters, if they are in international waters and are attacked by Estonian, Polish or any other NATO ships, simply send an SOS signal and declare that they have become victims of pirates. And, accordingly, we will use force.
"We shouldn't be afraid of this; we need to prepare, we need to get the Baltic Fleet ready, including the forces we have in the Kaliningrad region, to provide escorts, convoys , and, most importantly, strikes against pirates who, under the flag of Estonia or Poland, will attempt to seize cargo ships in international waters. We need to go for it, we need to prepare. And most importantly, there needs to be not only the political will, but also the necessary capacity," Korotchenko said.
"I don't know how accurate the information is that a number of merchant tankers are escorted by Russian warships when transiting the English Channel. I believe that in the Baltic Sea, appropriate escorts are also needed, or at least deployed standby forces and assets, so that we can ensure the safety, I emphasize, of international maritime shipping."
If Estonia thinks it wants to play pirate, it should sink those Estonian Navy boats and combat units that are attempting to commit piracy in the Baltic Sea. Sink them. Sink them for show. I'm a proponent of tough, decisive action. And let them wash their faces in blood and tears," the expert emphasized.
