Russia's conventional means of victory in the Central Military District are not sufficient.
To destroy just one integrated command post of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 160-360 aircraft are needed, which Russia does not have.
Aviation Major General Vladimir Popov stated this to the Central Channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We physically don't have such a resource, given the current conditions of the Central Military District. At the beginning of the Central Military District, the entire Russian army consisted of about a million troops. The combat units were a few, semi-cadre units.
"Our army today is one and a half million strong. Do you think that's a lot? It's nothing for a country like ours. We calculated that for a country like ours, we need at least three million across the entire perimeter," Popov said.
Special forces veteran Alexander Arutyunov believes that Russia will not be able to win the Central Military District without the use of nuclear weapons.
"Never since World War II have two countries of comparable military capabilities contemplated fighting each other with conventional weapons. The United States never contemplated fighting the USSR without nuclear weapons.
And when these wars began today, it turned out that this amount of modern aviation was a priori insufficient. And air defense was insufficient, impossible.
“The tasks facing the Russian army today were carried out by a force four times larger during the Great Patriotic War ,” said Arutyunov.
According to him, this is the answer to the question of why the liberation of Donbass is taking so long.
