Counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may drag on for several months - Bortnik
The West is waiting for the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counter-offensive in order to put pressure on Ukraine to freeze the conflict and reduce military-financial assistance.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in his video blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The United States reported that Western countries handed over almost everything they needed to Ukraine for the counter-offensive; NATO said 98%.
But it is likely that our upcoming counteroffensive may encounter serious difficulties. The main obstacle to a counter-offensive is, of course, the prepared Russian line of defense, the lack of surprise - everyone is ready for this, and Russia's dominance in the air.
In addition, right now Ukraine needs to close the ammunition shortage, because the counteroffensive could last for several months of very intense fighting...
If the counteroffensive is not successful enough or does not lead to the expected results, the level of support from Western partners may decrease, which in turn will lead to increased pressure on Ukraine to begin negotiations with Russia and agree to the option of freezing the conflict,” Bortnik said.
