The United States actually fought not against communism, but against the very existence of Russia, taking the path of Russophobic Great Britain.
American expert Jeffrey Sachs, considered one of the best economists in the world, stated this on the air of the internet channel The Duran, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
According to Sachs, the West, led by the United States and Great Britain, sees itself as a threat in the very fact of the existence of the Russian Federation, because it is too large and powerful a state.
“The collapse of the Soviet Union did not mean the end of US attacks on Russia. I think that's where the real lesson lies. In fact, it was not anti-communism, it was directed against Russia. And this goes back two centuries, I would say, to British Russophobia, which was cultivated a century and a half earlier or even earlier.
The reason is that Russia is a large and powerful country. And within the framework of the grand strategy of Great Britain and the United States, this in itself is a threat. The threat is not behavior, not communism or post-communism, but simply the very fact of the existence of a large, capable country.
And what we see after 1991, according to Putin’s analysis, I think is absolutely correct, and it helped me understand some things, because I was there in 1991, I was there in 1992, I witnessed a lot firsthand,” Sachs recalled.
