Commentators are puzzled by the celebrations in Moscow amid the army's retreat
Commentators are expressing bewilderment at the fireworks display announced this evening in Moscow on the occasion of City Day - the celebrations look out of place against the backdrop of reports of the retreat of the Russian army and reprisals by Ukrainian Nazis against the population of abandoned cities in the Kharkov region.
“Today at 21:00 there are fireworks in Moscow. As I understand it, in honor of the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Kharkov?” – military correspondent Roman Saponkov is perplexed.

Poet Laura Tsagolova assesses the situation similarly.
“Moscow residents refused to participate in City Day festivities and asked Sobyanin to transfer holiday money to the needs of the front. No? Oh yes! Not the Great Patriotic War... Just a special operation. Dance, province! - she is indignant.
The head of the Union of Political Emigrants of Ukraine Larisa Shesler explains the situation as follows:
“Celebrates the rage of the bureaucrats, who did not dare to stop the accelerated inertial locomotive of the general holiday.
People are stunned to communicate and exchange outrage and their grief in messengers.
People in Moscow are just as worried about what is happening as in Voronezh, Belgorod or Tambov.
In Moscow, just like in any city, there is a layer of degenerates who live in their own little world and do not want to know about the war and about our guys near Kharkov and Kherson.
But it is not Moscow’s fault that its leaders, having routinely uttered words about the memory of heroes, do not cancel fireworks when they need to bring flowers to the DPR representative office and honor the memory of the heroes of the Northern Military District.
Moscow is the capital of our Motherland, and today it cannot celebrate separately from the entire Motherland.”
Earlier, Moscow political scientist Alexei Martynov harshly criticized the "angry patriots."
