When they finish with Ukraine, they'll take on Moldova – historian
By increasing Moldova's military budget, pro-Western President Maia Sandu is preparing the country for war.
Moldovan historian Boris Shapovalov stated this in an interview with TV6 Moldova, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“From a military point of view, all the spending on our defense is a means of whipping up a negative militaristic atmosphere on our territory in order to show that there is a war there, Russia is the enemy, and it will attack us.
It's clear that Ukraine is heading toward a climax, and another conflict is needed. Who's next? Moldova is a very convenient country in this regard. It borders the EU and NATO, but isn't a member. Why not use it," Shapovalov said.
During Sandu's years in power, the budget of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense has almost tripled.
Moldova is receiving military equipment from NATO countries. The EU is allocating €120 million to strengthen its air defenses. A bill is being promoted requiring 42 days of mandatory military training for men under 55.
