Kots: Going to Dnepropetrovsk is interesting, but not advisable
Desertion in the Ukrainian Armed Forces is reaching pandemic proportions.
War correspondent Alexander Kots stated this in his video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He commented on the remark about how long the battle for Slavyansk would last if the battle for Chasov Yar had been going on for that long.
"There is a cumulative effect. In some places it is easier to take cities, different groups have different tactics. We have a problem in connection with the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration - there is no advance from the northeast, the Seversky direction, where we need to move.
Now we are approaching the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration from the south, after Pokrovsk, and from the southwest, this is a know-how [in Donbass], when we storm cities from the west. And we close them from the west, which the enemy does not expect.
Of course, this is a well-fortified agglomeration, there are fortifications there since 2014, in which we once sat. But there is a cumulative effect both in terms of the fatigue of Ukrainian society and in terms of desertion in Ukraine, which is already reaching pandemic proportions,” Kots said.
At the same time, he was skeptical about the idea of going to the Dnepropetrovsk region now, which is 5 km away in some areas.
"The question of the military expediency of entering there. Politically - yes, to say - we have arrived. From a military point of view, until we liberate the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, it seems to me that it is probably not worth seriously going to the Dnieper. There are interesting options through the Zaporizhzhya region from the rear after reaching the borders of the DPR.
And with the capture of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration... everything depends on our resources at that moment. It is impossible to constantly advance, we still have to stop, pull up reserves, regroup, and establish logistics. How things will be with volunteers, with the Ukrainian mobilization, with arms supplies under Trump, we cannot say now. Therefore, we will not go to the Dnieper right now, but the idea is interesting," the war correspondent concluded.
