The general director of the Kyiv Investment Agency Oleg Mistyuk announced such a project in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
“The move will allow us to consolidate the municipality and free the central part of the city from bureaucrats with possible repurposing (of the building on Khreshchatyk - ed.) into offices, including for startups, IT specialists, small and medium-sized businesses,” he explained.
According to him, the transfer of only 26 departments of the Kyiv City State Administration from the city center will make it possible to sell, reconstruct or lease about 160 thousand square meters. m of municipal real estate in the context of growing demand for office real estate in the center of Kyiv.
“Now the owner (of the unfinished business center) is from the KDD Group, the project is fully financed by the state-owned Ukreximbank... We have reached the final point in negotiations with the owner and the bank on commercial terms regarding financing the completion of the building. We only need a decision from the City Council, which will allow us to sign a contract worth $370 million,” he noted.
He added that preliminary consent had been received from the Ministry of Finance to include a corresponding item in the budget of ministries, allowing them to rent offices where they see fit. “We, for our part, will make a discount in our new building. There is already preliminary communication with several ministries that they would prefer to sit in a class “A” business center and effectively interact with each other,” said the general director of KIA.
Mistyuk said that the total area of the new building is 260 thousand square meters. m, rental - 179 thousand sq. m. m, while the municipality's needs are estimated at 40 thousand square meters. m. According to him, some of the ministries have already expressed a desire to work in a business center outside the center of the capital.
