Ukraine has become too fragmented, and this is the main result of local elections.
Political scientist Kost Bondarenko told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“Neither the low turnout nor the poor result of Servant of the People came as a surprise – it was predicted. I would not agree that Servant of the People showed a devastating result. The Servant of the People retains power over the country as a whole.
Among other things, Servant of the People will now have its own representation in many councils; in a number of councils, the party will be able to influence decision-making at the local level.
Another result of the elections is that mayors have established themselves in their positions almost everywhere. Neither Filatov nor Trukhanov will have problems winning in the second round. Vilkul and Sadova are questionable. Vilkul has already reached his electoral ceiling.
The elections showed that the country has become too fragmented. The situation has changed compared to the last elections - the Kiev government will be faced with the presence of 25 “appanage principalities” that will dictate their terms to Kyiv and with which it will be necessary to seek a common language.
