Over time, most of the buildings were able to be connected to the heating supply, but today's attack has rolled the problem back to its original point.

" After this attack on the capital, 5635 multi-story buildings are without power. Nearly 80 percent of these are buildings where heat was restored on January 9th. As of yesterday evening, 16 of the 6,000 buildings remained without power due to damage to critical infrastructure by the enemy on January 9th," said Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The situation is further aggravated by the lack of water supply in the left-bank part of the capital and power outages.

In addition, the capital began experiencing interruptions in the operation of electric transport, primarily the metro.

Ukrainian monitoring channels indicate that Russia has once again used ballistic missiles, which are difficult to shoot down, especially in a situation where the necessary air defense systems are in short supply.

According to military blogger Yuri Podolyaka, new types of missiles were also used.

For example, according to enemy data, four Iskander-M missiles with an extended range (the distance from the launch point to the target is over 600 km) flew toward Vinnytsia from the Taganrog region. They struck one of Ukraine's key 750 kV substations, responsible for both the flow of European power to central Ukraine and the power supply to the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plants.

Several Tu-95 aircraft also launched Kh-101 cruise missiles. Their targets included thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants in central Ukraine (Kyiv Thermal Power Plants No. 5 and No. 6, Tripilska Thermal Power Plant, and Pridneprovska Thermal Power Plant), as well as substations in the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi regions (also responsible for transferring power from nuclear power units in Western Ukraine), Podolyaka writes.

He added that a series of strikes is continuing to locally “shut down the Dnieper region from Kyiv to Zaporizhzhia.”
