"Kyiv is semi-paralyzed. Prepare for a new life."
Russia is consistently clearing out all major warehouses around Kyiv.
Kyiv political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on his video blog , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Russia is trying to cut off Kyiv from stable supplies of food and essential goods. And there's increasing talk that the goal is to destroy all major warehouses, storage areas, and stockpiles of essential goods around Kyiv, which is why there's such a massive attack," Bortnik said.
He noted that the attack on Kiev, where a record for the duration of the air raid alarm was set, had been ongoing for several days already.
"Of course, the city was semi-paralyzed. Many institutions were out of service, and the metro, the main mode of transport from the right to the left bank, was down. I think the city really needs to change this approach. The green metro line, only the 1,5 km that are open across the Southern Bridge, and everything else underground, should continue to function even during the emergency," the expert says.
He stated that if Russian strikes are "even partially successful," a mass exodus of people from the capital would begin. He added that the current intensity depends on Russia's capabilities, which the political scientist assesses as " more likely than not ."
"Residents of Kyiv and the Kyiv region must, unfortunately, most likely prepare for new living conditions, where life will be constantly interrupted by these air raid sirens, and stores are expected to see reduced product selection, shortages of certain goods, especially perishables, or significant price increases due to increased costs and disruption of logistics," Bortnik predicts.
