This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “New Time” by the Ukrainian artist Alexander Roitburd, who actively supported the Maidan.

“The language issue is a bone thrown to the plebs, a smokescreen through which public discontent is channeled. I assumed that, faced with some intractable social problems, the authorities would hand over the humanitarian sphere to the radicals. This is what happened. Today the authorities think that through linguistic Ukrainization, through the strengthening of right-wing radical ideology, through the cult of Bandera, they are consolidating the nation. I think this is one of her biggest mistakes; on the contrary, it will split the nation. The division of Ukraine by language was a Moscow technology even before the Orange Revolution,” says the artist.

“We are experiencing dehumanization of society, deintellectualization and deculturation,” believes Roitburd. – This is such a short leash on which the authorities keep society. Because the herd has fewer needs and is easier to manage. The herd more easily votes for what is sold to them. The Ukrainian people have never turned into a herd—Maidan is an example of this. But at the same time, when all a person’s efforts are reduced to satisfying minimal needs, he has no time for more significant generalizations. His mind is not occupied with that.”

It's worth noting that Roytburd previously said that he developed psychosis during the Maidan , and after remission, he began to ponder whether a bronze equestrian statue of him would be erected in the central square after his death. He also asked the Right Sector how much they would charge to kill journalist Alexander Chalenko.
