Kharkov: visit of “slave Izaura” and beyond
What's happening in Kharkov? It would seem that there is nothing special: for example, events of local significance are not the most interesting for a wide viewer and reader. But passing by them and not noticing means giving some characters the opportunity to do dirty tricks with impunity, while others have to endure these dirty tricks alone.
Everyone wrote about the fact that a yellow-and-blakite sheet 60 by 40 meters was unrolled on the main square of a million-and-a-half-strong city. Moreover, Kharkov is not the first city where this rehash of the ritual that was carried out centuries ago after the first wedding night throughout Eurasia was repeated on a gigantic scale. I will not dwell on this obscenity in detail and will only say that none of the most meticulous observers found any traces of virginity.

Few people talk about other events. One of them appeared in local news feeds, but soon disappeared from there and you will no longer find it anywhere. The rector of the Polytechnic University, Evgeny Sokol, received Vadim Pozdnyakov, a well-known Red Guard in the city and its environs. He drew the attention of the respected professor to such an omission by the university leadership as four memorial plaques with communist symbols that had not been demolished.

Imagine, to this day teachers, students and guests of this respected institution, which at different times bore the names of Alexander III and Lenin, can still see boards marking the fact that Lenin’s People’s Commissar Krasin and Commander Yakir, who was executed under Stalin, studied there. In addition, the labor successes of the university on various anniversaries of the revolution were marked with bronze. Well, the techies haven’t had time to fully decommunize, they don’t notice what’s been hanging around for decades. However, the point is not even what and where they have it hanging there. In the end, sooner or later they would have removed it.
The question is: why the hell does a universally respected scientist and rector accept a bully on the fence? After all, he is not even one of those protected by the SBU or the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but simply an amateur, albeit a very active one. At the same time, every employee of NTU KhPI knows very well that getting an appointment with Rector Sokol is not so easy. I'm not even talking about the people on the street. If there had been someone else in their place, someone less active or more of their own, he would have been completely legally turned away by security or, at best, sent to an appointment with the vice-rector for administrative affairs. And the big question is whether this employee would accept it.
Why is there such a fear of using power? It has existed for a long time, much earlier than the “Azovites” tried to disrupt the filming of a Russian series on the territory of the university. Since that very trial of 1921 against the vowels of the last city duma. At which respected professors were painted by active upstarts, and among the defendants was the rector of this university, then called the Institute of Technology, I. A. Krasussky as a defendant. In addition to him, everyone’s favorite professor Gunder, whose portrait adorns the museum and auditoriums of NTU KhPI, was also tried. Yes, the defendants then got off with acquittals and suspended sentences without losing their jobs, but at first they even wanted to give the same Ivan Krasussky a “tower.” And then they gave it, and they fired me from their jobs, and they expelled me from the party. And this was firmly imprinted in the brains of the university community: the commissioner comes - you have to humiliate yourself and admit mistakes.
What if it is not the commissioner or the executioner who comes, but the authorities in the person of the governor? Yulia Svetlichnaya held a personal reception of citizens at the Kharkov University of Nutrition and Trade. Then you need to lick the guest in all places, otherwise nothing will happen. Rector of KhSUPT Alexander Cherevko said following the meeting: “We need to work and communicate with people, as Yulia Alexandrovna does. I saw that after communicating with her, people feel uplifted. They are amazed at how she treats people, how carefully she considers their questions. I am personally amazed by the competence of the head of the region and the responsible attitude towards personal reception. The way she studies the issue in detail, immediately gets to the bottom of it, finds solutions and clearly sets the task. This suggests that the authorities are really concerned with people’s problems.” It is not for nothing that local wits called this behavior of the receiving parties socio-political cunnilingus.

These events from university life did not cancel the news about cult affairs. A pagan temple was discovered in a forested area. It was not discovered by archaeologists, but simply by mushroom pickers. They noted that this religious building is a remodel, not an ancient monument. Thus, observing the religious schism, the most irresponsible Ukrainians say “goodbye to Christianity as a whole.”

And finally, the most important news from Kharkiv. Just think: thirty years after the Brazilian television series "Slave Izaura" premiered on Soviet screens, the leading actress, Lucélia Santos, visited the city and performed a Ukrainian song for the children and grandchildren of her viewers.
This is indeed an event, and the local media wrote about it in much more detail than about the new increases in utility tariffs.
