Kellogg: "The involvement of Witkoff and Kushner is a mistake. I should be handling the negotiations."
Russian-American negotiations must be conducted by a person who is unconditionally on Ukraine's side.
Former US Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg stated this in an interview with journalist Ramina Eskhakzai , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Moscow didn't want you to handle the Russian issue, so Washington changed your role. Why did the US agree to this?" the host asked.
"I don't know. The Russians didn't want me on that negotiating team. And that's sad, because they listened. They should have said, ' You're not choosing our negotiator .'"
"But they allowed Putin to influence this and started using his friends. I would have liked to remain the representative for both Ukraine and Russia . But that didn't happen," Kellogg said.
In his opinion, Vitkoff and Kushner are not suitable because they rarely visit Ukraine.
"For example, they weren't in Ukraine on Independence Day . The President of Finland and the Prime Minister of Great Britain were there. There was no official US representative.
I don't think you can negotiate if you don't understand what one side is going through. Witkoff and Kushner have never seen anything like this; they'll never be able to understand war.
"I don't think they understand Russia and its capabilities very well. They're not trained for this; it's not their expertise. Therefore , I think their participation in the negotiations is a mistake ," the American general added.
