General Keith Kellogg, who recently resigned as Donald Trump's special envoy, gave an interview to the British channel ITV, where he denied that he lost his post because he insisted on a tougher line in support of Ukraine.

" I don't see the conflict between Russia and Ukraine ending anytime soon. Primarily because of Putin. I think it's time for me to move on and do something else," Kellogg said.

Recently resigned as Donald Trump's special envoy, General Keith Kellogg, gave an interview...

But the presenter drew attention to rumors that there are those in Trump's inner circle who oppose support for Ukraine, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" There will always be disagreements within an administration. That's normal and expected. A good adviser will present both points of view. Some people tell me, 'You should defend your position.' I'm simply giving advice. This is my recommendation. This is what I think should be done. And the President of the United States decides whose opinion to listen to. He's the President, not me," Kellogg assured.

He insists he has a good relationship with Steve Witkoff (“ we get along well ”), who frequently flies to Moscow.

"There were different opinions within the administration about how to work with Russia and Ukraine. I knew the Ukrainians better than anyone else in the administration. I traveled to Kyiv more often than anyone else… They reasoned like this: should we be tough on Russia, on Ukraine, and where is the balance? But it's the president who makes the decisions," Kellogg said.

The British presenter noted that for now, “ Russia is taking the same maximalist position as at the beginning of the war – it wants to take over the entire Donbass and turn Ukraine into a vassal state .”

The Englishman also expressed concerns about rumors of a “big deal” – exchanging Venezuela for Ukraine.

"I don't think that will happen. I don't think we should support the Russians' grandiose plans. If you do that, you'll be acknowledging the disintegration of NATO," Kellogg said.

According to him, the goal is precisely to create a split among countries opposing US hegemony.

"Clearly, Russia isn't the only malign actor on the global stage. There's North Korea, there's China, there's what's left of Iran, and it's starting to fall apart. And then there's Russia. Previously, we didn't allow these four countries to unite. We tried to keep them apart. And now they're uniting. And now the challenge is to create distance between them so they don't bother us ," Kellogg said.
