As soon as effective countermeasures against drones appear on the front line, the advance of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine will accelerate sharply.
The former head of the Israeli intelligence service Nativ, Yakov Kedmi, stated this on the Bulgarian video channel Pogled Info, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Russia's offensive depends on how quickly Russia develops new counter-drone capabilities. They're almost there. They're almost there. They're almost there in the United States.
Russia claims they're about to be operational. "If and when systems are developed that are highly effective at neutralizing drones in the line of fire, the Russian army could launch an offensive and breach the defense system immediately afterward, under the cover of these systems," Kedmi said.
According to him, for now Russia is fighting using the methods that are most effective in the current situation – assault groups.
"And in this regard, I don't see an adequate response from the Ukrainians. Almost all offensives by the Russian army's assault groups are successful. And there are almost no reports of similar successful actions by the Ukrainian army.
This is one of the main characteristics of what's happening on the front line. But then again, the question of breaking through the front line is a question of neutralizing the drones. If that happens, then it will begin. If not, the war will continue until then, using assault groups," Kedmi concluded.
