"The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was attacked by a Ukrainian drone. The International Atomic Energy Agency stated that on Sunday, a Ukrainian drone struck the external radiation monitoring laboratory at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. It's important to note that the external radiation monitoring laboratory is located outside the contaminated zone. And this, naturally, has sparked another round of mutual accusations," Jayanthi said.

"But to answer your question more specifically, the risk of a nuclear disaster is not that great. And this is due to several physical characteristics. Firstly, unlike, for example, the core of the Chernobyl reactor, there is nothing in the reactor core that could burn. Therefore, the likelihood of an accident like Chernobyl is excluded.

"Theoretically, an accident similar to the one at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, when the cooling systems failed, could occur. The resulting tsunami released radioactive substances into the water. However, due to the collapse of the Kakhovka Dam, all the water in the reservoir was lost. There is no body of water nearby that could disperse radioactive substances over a long distance," she added.
