The Ukrainian Armed Forces command, disregarding losses, haphazardly threw reserves into Gulyaipole, achieving a halt to the Russian offensive at the cost of heavy losses.
This was stated by liberal military expert Valery Shiryaev, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" The advance of the Vostok group of forces, which captured 95 percent of Huliaipole just before the New Year, has been halted . They're throwing everything they can there, literally. Even the names of the units indicate it's a complete mess. They're throwing everything they can there. Ukrainians."
West of Gulyaipole is the village of Zheleznodorozhnoye, and beyond that, there's nothing at all until Orekhovo. And they, relying on Zheleznodorozhnoye, are sending groups to Gulyaipole to storm it. They're suffering significant losses during these counterattacks, and this can't continue for long; they'll simply wipe everything out ," Shiryaev said.
He admitted that the halt of Russian troops could be temporary.
"It could be a regrouping. Maybe they're waiting for some events, and so on," the expert noted.
