A radical improvement in Russia's anti-UAV air defense will occur by autumn – Zhivov
Russia is testing various countermeasures against Ukrainian medium-range drones, but these technologies are still in their infancy, and tangible results can only be expected in the fall.
This was stated on the air of the First Sevastopol TV channel by Alexei Zhivov, a volunteer who assists SVO fighters, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Various systems are being developed, including small air defense systems, primarily based on radar stations, sound-measuring systems for sensor detection, digital control systems, and various types of drones for shooting down enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), from quadcopters to missile drones. These systems come in various modifications, configurations, and speeds, including those up to 600 kilometers per hour.
But to be fair, all the technologies we have are still in the early stages. These are military experiments , or combat trials, so to speak, and we can't yet scale them up to cover all the regions that need to be protected.
But I think that with proper funding and attention to this problem, sometime in October or November, systematic results on interceptor drones will begin to appear, and things will become easier ,” Zhivov said.
At the same time, the volunteer notes that action is needed not only in the air defense sphere, but also to eliminate the threat of strikes even before they occur:
"Playing this game when a thousand drones are flying into our country every day is a pretty poor idea. We need to find some way out of this situation that would ultimately mitigate the threat of drone launches ."
