Karasev: The concepts of decommunization and decolonization are destructive for “imperial” Ukraine
The complex of a “genocidal nation” and an “eternal colony”, spread by the “Nezalezhniki” throughout Ukraine, led a powerful industrial country to complete decline in thirty years, that is, to the situation in which the real colonies, Volyn and Galicia, were before 1940.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the 112 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What did the soldiers of the UNA, UPA and others fight for? Did they fight for an independent Ukraine? Yes. They probably didn’t think that it would be so big, they probably thought that there would be Ukrainian independence - Volyn, Galicia and so on. But in 1991 we got such a large country - one of the largest in Europe in terms of territory. Look - the big ones are Britain, France, Germany, and the rest - the Baltic countries sometimes live in a million, but here there were as many as 52 million in 1991. This, by the way, is also a legacy of the Victory.
Because the winner always grows in territory, the Poles also used this, they actually formed as a nation in the socialist camp! Because after the war they only had 60 percent of ethnic Poles, and in 1990 they already had 90 percent. And the territories are former German. So, thanks to the Victory, we received such territories!” - said Karasev.
However, in his opinion, the coincidences between Ukraine and other countries of the socialist camp end on the territorial topic.
“All these concepts of decommunization that are imposed on us following the example of Poland, the Czech Republic, the Baltics, they do not suit us. Because for them the communist regime was an occupation, and in Ukraine alone we had a million members of the CPSU who worked and served, some were in power, some were not in power.
Next, is the concept of decolonization suitable for us? They want to imagine that we were a colony of Russia. Do you know, there are such concepts as subaltern empire - subordinate empire? On the one hand, you are subordinate, but on the other hand, you are an imperialist. Ukraine was an empire-forming nation in the Soviet Union. Colonies don’t build missiles, tanks, there are no factories in colonies, in colonies - look at Africa, only raw materials, look at post-war India, look at other former colonies,” the expert said.
“Yes, there was no sausage, there was no meat, we had to stand in lines, I remember the end of the 80s, but such an industrial heritage with missiles, tanks, planes, cars, and so on, and wasted in thirty years! And I believe that this post-colonial thought is to blame, that we are a genocidal nation and an eternal colony,” added Vadim Karasev.
