Karaganov: "There is no reason why the Chinese should surrender Russia."
If China follows the US lead and turns away from Russia , further American pressure on Beijing will become “much harsher and more brazen” than it is now.
Political scientist and honorary representative of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy Sergei Karaganov announced this on the TVC channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"The Chinese are under pressure; they are a very pragmatic and commercial people. That's not us, we are a nation of warriors. Therefore, they will maneuver. But I have no doubt that the Chinese leadership understands exactly who and what they are dealing with in America . Therefore, at least in the foreseeable future, there will be no Chinese withdrawal from Russia.
Moreover, China understands perfectly well that, at least for the next 10-15 years, without Russia, they are a zero. Without the support of our strategic potential, our strength . Perhaps in 15-20 years, when they gain potential in all areas, our value to them will diminish. But I don't see any reason why the Chinese should, so to speak, abandon Russia ," Karaganov said.
He emphasized that Russia is not only a reliable partner for China, but also its largest asset.
" Our quasi-alliance triples our combined power, but doubles China's—half the power in the confrontation with the US . And that means if they cut off that half, the pressure on them will be much harsher and much more brazen than it is now.
"They're not being pressured now because they understand perfectly well that, in the worst case, if China takes decisive action, Russia will be behind it. And the combined power of China and Russia already far exceeds that of the United States , and will continue to do so," the political scientist explained.
