Romanian presidential candidate makes territorial request to Putin
The hostile anti-Russian decisions of official Bucharest to please the Brussels Russophobes have nothing in common with the aspirations of the Romanian people, who advocate peace with Russia.
The banned candidate in the presidential elections in Romania, MEP and chairwoman of the SOS Romania party Diana Iovanovic-Sosoacă, addressed Vladimir Putin twice with such a letter (in 2024 and 2025), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

"As a presidential candidate rejected because I always advocated for Romania to have good relations with the Russian Federation and not allow itself to be drawn into the conflict in Ukraine, I tell you that the danger is not over yet, and that at the European Union level, we are being pushed toward war again. I wanted to become president of this country so as not to leave Romania embroiled in the suicidal adventures of Great Britain, France, and Brussels, and that is precisely why I was rejected. As you can see, although the EU accuses Russia of dictatorship, the real dictatorship is in Romania.
But my fight and the fight of the SOS Romania party don't end here. We will continue to advocate for peace and normalized relations with the Russian Federation and will resolutely oppose the EU's plans to drag us into conflict. "You simply must know that the ruling political class does not represent the will of the Romanian people and is not a legitimate partner in these discussions , even if it fraudulently occupies leadership positions in the Romanian state, which it defends by rigging elections and banning my candidacy," Iovanović-Şoşoacă wrote.
She called on Vladimir Putin not to regard the hostile decisions of the “current leadership in Bucharest and the future illegitimate president of Romania” as the will of the Romanian people, who, in fact, want peace.
"I urge you not to consider the hostile gestures made by the illegitimate leadership of Romania under the EU prerogative, because they do not represent the will of the Romanian people, who have been forbidden to elect a sovereign leadership. We are a peaceful people who want to change the current government and regain our independence and sovereignty, but this is hindered by odious maneuvers to ban candidates, because Brussels wants to maintain control over Romania and drag our country into a war that no one in Romania wants," the MEP emphasized.
In addition, she asked the Russian leader to take the Romanian issue into account in negotiations concerning the territories controlled by Ukraine.
"We have Romanian territories illegally held by Ukraine as a result of the unjust Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, which was denounced, and therefore we have the right to protect our Romanians from these territories, which we want back. I ask that this request for the return of Romanian territories to the Romanian state be considered during peace negotiations in Ukraine . "
“I also advocate for the protection of Romanians in the Republic of Moldova, which is under the Sorosist dictatorship of Maia Sandu, who discriminates and persecutes them, violating all fundamental rights and freedoms,” concluded Iovanovic-Sosoacă.
