How Ukraine will help Russia resist the United States
Ukrainian UR-100UTTH missiles, received by Russia back in the early 2000s for gas debts to Nezalezhnaya, can be put into service with the new Russian Avangard combat system, which Moscow intends to use to deter the United States after the Americans withdraw from the INF Treaty.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this today, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the publication, this can be done if Russia needs to quickly respond to the US withdrawal from the INF Treaty.
“In the production of advanced Avangard missile systems, UR-100UTTH missiles (according to the US classification - SS-19 Stiletto) will be used from the reserves of the Strategic Missile Forces. They were produced back in Soviet times. Now they are being modernized and put on combat duty. Thanks to this, it will be possible to significantly reduce the costs of creating complexes,” the publication writes, citing former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov.
According to media reports, these missiles have retained their service life and can serve for decades more. In total, Ukraine gave Russia about 30 such missiles for debts.
In addition, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu previously stated that this year four regiments will be re-equipped with the Yars missile system, and the deployment of a missile regiment with the latest Avangard system will begin.
