The Ukrainian language was not accepted in either formal or informal gatherings in the country.
The correspondent reports about this "PolitNavigator", said video blogger Vladimir Kokhan, who produces material from the Ukrainian hinterland.
In an interview with the anti-Russian propaganda publication Ukrainska Pravda, he admitted that he was mocked because of his Ukrainian language.
"...I had a feeling of shame because I was from a village. Perhaps it first appeared at 10-12 years old - puberty, when you are already starting to mature, when you start to be interested in girls. Then this feeling became more acute at 16-20 years old, when you get into various formal and informal get-togethers, where the Ukrainian language is a big disgrace, like your rural origin," Kokhan said.
He says it was "terribly oppressive."
"I was very ashamed. That's why when people asked me where I was from back then, I always answered that I was from Odessa. If I spoke Ukrainian to girls or even said that I was from a village in Khmelnytskyi region, then for them it was a huge red flag, after which they lost any sympathy for me. This continued partially until 2022,” the blogger assures.
