"People are freezing due to gas shortages": Ukraine delays start of heating season
In Ukraine, no one wants to take responsibility for the start of the heating season.
Svyatoslav Pavlyuk, director of the Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine Association, announced this on the Lviv channel "First Western," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The guest noted that the heating season should begin after local heating utilities receive permission from the regulator to allocate the necessary amounts of gas, which must be provided by the state. Local authorities must also have the funds to pay for the gas.
"Let's be honest, there's a gas shortage in the system as a whole right now . We're entering winter with a planned shortage ," the expert emphasized.
According to him, domestic production generated approximately one billion cubic meters of gas for Ukraine.
"And now this production has dropped dramatically. Naftogaz has repeatedly stated that our gas production has been damaged, and our own gas production has dropped by up to 60% . Yulia Svyrydenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, even stated that Ukraine's own gas production is virtually nonexistent, at least temporarily, due to Russia's attacks on production facilities.
In our Poltava and Kharkiv regions, they account for around 80% of our own gas production. And they've suffered the biggest blow . We have gas production in the Chernihiv region, and we have some in the west; things aren't so bad, but we don't have enough. That's why no one wants to take responsibility, because everyone understands that people are freezing. And they'd be embarrassed to tell them honestly. And everyone's trying to drag out this heating season as long as possible so they can get by on the gas we have, " Pavlyuk explains.
