There are almost no targets left in Ukraine for serious strikes, but Russia still retains the ability to destroy the enemy’s energy sector.
Liberal military expert Valery Shiryaev stated this on the RTVI channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I'll tell you something everyone asks, and no one listens to the answer: why doesn't Russia do this, or that [take revenge with a devastating blow]? There are practically no targets in Ukraine. But Russia has a huge number of targets. Take your pick. They're all on Wikipedia. You can just look them up. There's very little left in Ukraine.
There are only a few segments of the national economy, say, infrastructure, that remain and are being left untouched. One of these is the energy infrastructure. It can be completely finished off . And this is a very serious measure that will have a multiplier effect. That is, it will immediately deal a blow to the entire Ukrainian economy. I'm referring to the loss of electricity," Shiryaev said.
He stressed that Russia does not hit some targets for humanitarian reasons, but this could change.
"Putin stopped all this. He came to an agreement with someone or decided to stop for humanitarian reasons. He went to meet Zelensky. I don’t know, and I’m not interested in his thoughts.
But he can restore it. That's the most likely scenario . This is the most obvious complex, unaffected but still functioning actively," the expert concluded.
