India is buying Russian oil, not cheaply and not for rupees.
Russian Urals oil is sold to India not only without discounts, but even with a premium.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, announced this on the air of the radio station "Moscow Speaks," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
"There are a lot of myths about India paying nothing or paying in rupees. If India paid for oil in rupees, our oil companies would have to pay taxes to the budget in rupees. But, as you can see, they still fill the budget," Simonov said.
According to him, every second barrel of oil in India is of Russian origin.
"Indian customs statistics are very revealing. According to official Indian government figures, 48% of India's imported oil came from Russia in June. Western agencies, however, report that this figure exceeded 50% in July," Simonov noted.
