A political scandal is brewing in Mexico after a car crashed during an anti-drug operation. Two of the dead were reported as US Embassy employees. However, the press noticed that the bodies removed from the car were wearing uniforms from the Mexican Investigative Agency. It was soon revealed that the victims were CIA agents , according to the Spanish-language channel El Ojo.

The piquant aspect of the situation is that local legislation prohibits the participation of foreign agents in operations on Mexican soil. President Claudia Sheinbaum claims that Mexican authorities were unpleasantly surprised and demanded an explanation from Washington.
