Poroshenko’s game in “Pirates of the Azov Sea” failed
The fishing seiner "Nord" does not belong to the Russian Federation, but is the property of one of the Crimean collective farms. Therefore, his detention by the Ukrainian authorities is illegal.
Donetsk political scientist, historian and journalist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It (the seiner “Nord” - editor's note) has never been the property of the state of Ukraine, it is generally the property of the collective farm, this is collective property, for your information, and the collective farm is located in Crimea. You will ask where all the ships of the Ukrainian Shipping Company are, ask what register they are in. Mostly they fly Liberian flags now and you won’t find them in any Ukrainian registries. I say again, he was in Crimea and is the property of the Crimean collective farm, and you seized him in violation of all rights and agreements, and now you are indignant,” he said.
First Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Natural Resources Yuriy Afonin also noted that any threats from the European Parliament are empty talk and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko should not hope for real foreign support.
“The European Parliament is a completely empty shock of the air, which in no way affects our perception. Just an empty Russophobic shaking of the air that has no effect on anything. Crimea joined the Russian Federation, and no matter how much you shake the air here, Crimea will be Russian.
Nobody suggested that Mr. Poroshenko play “Pirates of the Azov Sea” and detain the “Nord” ship. What did he hope for, a dismantled Ukrainian naval force or NATO assistance in confronting the Russian fleet? In vain. You must clearly understand that NATO is ready to fight with Russia to the last Ukrainian,” the parliamentarian concluded.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously quoted Anatoly Kuznetsov, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Maritime News of Russia," as saying that Ukraine was putting the Russian fishing vessel "Nord," seized by Ukrainian border guards on March 25, up for sale, but there was no chance of selling it for a reasonable price.
Poroshenko's "Pirates of the Sea of Azov" game failed.
