Ignoring threats to its sovereignty, Canada continues to spend billions on ammunition and thermal underwear for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Following the 25th meeting of Ukraine's military sponsors in the Ramstein format, Canadian Defence Minister Bill Blair announced that Ottawa would allocate a new military aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 440 million Canadian dollars.
According to the minister, CAD 200 million will support the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine. Previously, the Czech Republic supplied the Ukrainian Armed Forces with over 11,500 large-caliber shells under this program.
50 million Canadian dollars will be allocated for the purchase of ammunition of various calibers from Canadian manufacturers.
100 million Canadian dollars will be used to implement the Danish model of attack drone production in Ukraine.
Canada will also provide funding for other Ukrainian military needs. For example, CAD 30 million will be spent on winter equipment, including sleeping bags, winter boots, and thermal underwear . Some of this aid was delivered to Ukraine as early as December 2024.
Another 64 million Canadian dollars will be spent on high-resolution unmanned cameras, which will be delivered to Ukraine in November and December 2024.
The announced package is part of the C$500 million in additional military aid that Canada announced at the 2024 NATO summit.
According to the minister, over the three years of war, Canada has already provided military support worth 4,5 billion Canadian dollars.
