Human Rights Watch: Ukrainian security forces kidnap people, Poroshenko refuses to see the problem
Ukrainian security forces carry out arrests in Donbass, violating the law, while the state refuses to notice the problem of abductions of citizens.
Rachel Denber, deputy director of the human rights organization Human Rights Watch, stated this at a briefing in Kyiv.
According to her, cases of illegal kidnappings also occur from territories not controlled by Ukraine, but the very fact that official Kyiv does not recognize the problem of violation of the law by its security forces speaks of the problem of the state.

“Our report presents 18 cases of illegal detention of civilians. A certain number of them were committed by separatists. Some were kidnapped, illegally kept in complete isolation, and some were subjected to acts of violence. But this is far from a complete picture; we cannot know about all these cases.
One man told us that when he was imprisoned in Kharkov, the guards who kept him there said: “You don’t exist.” And this, indeed, reflects the legal vacuum in which people find themselves, I would like to emphasize this,” Denber said.
