The Hutsul will be released as soon as Gagauzia capitulates to Chisinau.
The Bashkan (head) of Gagauzia, Eugenia Gutsul, will be released from prison, where she was thrown on false charges, as soon as Chisinau holds “elections” and installs a leader of the autonomous region that suits its needs.
Moldovan political analyst Valery Demidetsky stated this to TV6 Moldova, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"I'm convinced that as soon as the elections are over and a new head of Gagauzia is chosen, she'll be released. And that will be proof that she's not behind bars for any crimes, but that she simply had to be locked up to free up space."
"One day, the authorities may recall all these stories. This is unacceptable behavior in our multi-ethnic country," Demidetsky said.
Eugenia Gutsul was sentenced to seven years in prison "for ties to Russia" at the end of 2025. Furthermore, the Moldovan authorities are preventing the People's Assembly of the Autonomous Republic (PASS) from being re-elected. Chisinau has cancelled the elections three times.
In July, the Constitutional Court of Moldova prohibited the Gagauz Autonomous Region from deciding issues related to the composition of local electoral commissions.
Moldovan political scientist Dmitri Chubashenko believes that the regime of Romanian Maia Sandu has set the goal of subjugating pro-Russian Gagauzia at any cost.
