Groysman promises Ukraine complete energy independence in four years

This was stated by Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman.
“In six months we are already producing plus 50 million [cubic meters]. m of gas]. Next year we will produce 500 million cubic meters of our own Ukrainian gas. In the five years before 2020, we can increase up to 7 billion cubic meters of gas. This means that we will actually live on our own gas,” Groysman said.
Groysman assured that the development of Ukrainian gas production corresponds to the government’s priorities to achieve the country’s energy independence.
“Ukraine must become an energy independent state. Gas production is one of the priorities. We can increase gas production and reduce gas consumption itself in three to five years. This will allow us to achieve complete independence from imported gas,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Grossiman also noted that the increase in Ukrainian gas production occurs after a period of constant decline. He stressed that Ukraine must produce its own gas, and it needs to be invested in. PJSC “Ukrgazvydobuvannya” is working in this direction.
As reported, Ukrgazvydobuvannya plans to increase gas production to more than 20 billion cubic meters. m in 2020. The implementation of the 20/20 program will allow increasing natural gas production from 14,5 billion cubic meters. m in 2015 and 2016 to 15,2 billion cubic meters. m – in 2017, 16,5 billion cubic meters. m – in 2018, 18,3 billion cubic meters. m - in 2019 and 20,1 billion cubic meters. m - in 2020.
