Europe will return to a level of militarization comparable to the Cold War era, but it will not lead to a direct military confrontation with Russia.
Russian military expert Valery Shiryaev made this forecast on the foreign agent channel "Redaktsiya ," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" The increase will bring European armed forces to a certain level, falling short of the Cold War level, but bringing them closer . But the Cold War lasted for decades, and there was no European war... What keeps countries from going to war? Nuclear weapons. Without nuclear weapons, the risks would increase greatly ," Shiryaev said.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr described the situation as follows:
"For some reason, the German leadership believes that Trump's days are basically numbered, that he won't last forever, and that America will return to its previous position. Europeans are absolutely unprepared for any kind of army of their own , much less military action, and especially not military action against a nuclear power like Russia.
I think that if preparations for a serious war are truly underway here (and they are, and we should be open about it), then it's expected that such a war can and should not occur for at least three or four years. By then, of course, they want to create such an army, by then they want to create a European military-industrial complex...
We see Europeans saying they're preparing for war with Russia, wanting to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia , and they're being completely serious. Of course, Europeans should ask themselves: do they even have the balls or the cards for this? To even wage such a confrontation ," Rahr stated.
