The State Duma allowed Yandex to make dubious contacts during the presidential election year
The State Duma has extended by a year the period when Russian users will be able to log in using foreign platforms, including those from unfriendly countries. The corresponding bill was adopted today in the first reading.
As Anton Gorelkin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology, and Communications, explained to journalists, this was done for the convenience of users, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“You know that on many sites, content becomes available only after the user registers there using an authorization system that collects, stores and processes his personal data. This summer, a law was passed that obliges authorization on the RuNet in several ways: mobile phone, government services, a unified biometric system, or another service that is 50% or more under the control of the Russian side.
But it turned out that not all digital platforms will be able to prepare and comply with this law from December 1. They need time to adjust their information structure. I discussed it with both Yandex and Ozone. They undertake to bring their authorization systems into compliance with the law within 2024,” Gorelkin said.
