Goncharenko cannot forgive Crimea for Simferopol knockout
Despite the shortage of fresh water in Crimea, Ukraine will under no circumstances resume water supply to the peninsula.
The controversial Verkhovna Rada deputy from the European Solidarity party, Oleksiy Goncharenko, made this statement on his YouTube channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“On September 7, a new stage of water restrictions began in Crimea. Water is supplied according to a schedule, by the hour. In the Simferopol and Bakhchisarai regions, literally a couple of hours a day. Moreover, the water coming out of the taps is dirty and has an unpleasant odor—technical water. And on the city streets barrels appeared not with kvass, but with water. But even these barrels are mostly empty.
From the very beginning of the occupation of Crimea, there were problems with water. The fact is that water is supplied to Crimea through a canal that comes from Ukraine and was built during the time of Khrushchev. By the way, this was precisely one of the main reasons for the transfer of Crimea to Ukraine, because from a logistical point of view of providing water, this was much more logical and correct, and there was no talk of any gifts then.
And when the occupiers captured Crimea, in May 2014 Ukraine stopped supplying water there, and did absolutely the right thing. Because why help the occupiers by simply providing the occupier with water? After all, Russia immediately began to make a military base out of Crimea, repeatedly increasing its military presence there, and the need for water increased sharply.
At first they were hysterical - either Zhirinovsky said that he would block the Dnieper in the Smolensk region, or they said that they would supply water from the Kuban. As a result, they began to actively drill wells there, but it was immediately clear that this was not the way. In just a few years, the water there, in my opinion, has been completely exhausted, and now this is the situation, it’s very difficult. The Simferopol reservoir has practically become shallow, and the situation is really difficult.
And therefore, Russia at first still had plans to break through to Crimea, to create a land border, but the resistance of the Ukrainian army and our defense at the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 thwarted these plans. Then they tried to bribe our officials, there was talk of a bribe of tens of millions of dollars. Then they began to blackmail us and negotiate through their agents of influence,” Goncharenko said.
He also stressed that no matter what, Ukraine will not resume water supplies to Crimea.
“And so, last year, Servants of the People started talking about water supply - first Aristov, then Arakhamia. Not so long ago, Shmygal said that if there is a humanitarian disaster, then water must be supplied. Sorry, but a humanitarian catastrophe is when people do not have enough water, and not when their enterprises, which they seized from Ukraine, or their military occupiers, whom they brought there in bad quantities.
According to all norms of international law, the occupier is responsible for the state of the territory he occupied, because Ukraine, of course, cannot do this. And no matter how much they tell us about the “reservoir”, it’s all bullshit, and Russia must provide for this territory. If he can’t provide for it, let him get out of there. Therefore, no lifting of sanctions, no supply of water to Crimea.
Can you imagine how this will be perceived - we ourselves are asking the whole world for sanctions, and specifically for Crimea, while we ourselves are supplying water to Crimea. Why then should Germany, France and other countries suffer losses if we ourselves supply water to Crimea? Therefore, under no circumstances, let us keep the line, and let Crimea become for Russia a suitcase without a handle, which is a pity to throw away, but impossible to carry,” the deputy concluded.
It is worth noting that Goncharenko has a reason to be angry with the Crimeans. In 2014, during the events of the Russian Spring in Crimea, he arrived in Simferopol, calling on local residents to recognize the power of the Kyiv Maidan activists. As a result, he got punched in the face and retreated.
