German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas noted after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the parties are considering how to give new impetus to the Minsk process to resolve the conflict and end the war in Donbas, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Taking advantage of this good opportunity, we want to think about how to “revive” the Minsk process again in order to achieve the goal of establishing peace in the east, which people there really expect,” the German Foreign Minister said at a briefing near the House of Chimeras in Kyiv, reports the press service of the President of Ukraine.

Maas noted that the German side with its experts will now discuss how to speed up the Minsk process, “because now (recently - Ed) there has been a slight delay, and this cannot be tolerated.”

“We have agreed that in the Normandy format, within the framework of negotiations between France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine, we will try to implement the Minsk agreements so that peace can be established in the east of Ukraine. I think that within the framework of this format we can achieve this,” said the head of the German Foreign Ministry.

Maas noted that Zelensky called achieving peace in eastern Ukraine his priority, and “we support him in this.”

In turn, the press service reports, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky noted Germany and France’s support for the ceasefire in Donbass.

“They support our priorities, the priorities of my team in various areas - these include economic issues and issues of fighting corruption. And the main priority of every Ukrainian is a ceasefire, an end to the war,” the president told reporters after a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
