Can the chief customs officer of Latvia head the customs service in Ukraine? At home, his deputies have already been arrested for corruption
Riga – Kyiv, March 02 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – The Kyiv government's tradition of awarding government positions to foreigners wanted in their home countries will likely continue. Latvian media predict that the current head of the Latvian Customs Service, Tālis Kravalis, will be appointed to a similar post in Ukraine. The Delfi portal reports that two of Tālis Kravalis's deputies have already been arrested in their home country.

According to preliminary data, the portal reports, employees of the Internal Security Service of the Financial Police detained Kravalis' deputy, Aivars Eglitis, as well as the head of the Transit Department, Juris Azers. They are charged with forgery and falsification of customs documents. At the moment, both high-ranking officials have been released, but the investigation continues.
It is noteworthy that at the same time it became known about the possible appointment of the current head of the Customs Service, Talis Kravalis, to a similar post in the civil service of Ukraine. According to preliminary data, he can either join the Customs Service of Ukraine or become a trade attaché of Latvia.
Cravalis has already confirmed that he is going to move to Kyiv, but did not indicate who.
