The head of Ukrainian cinema complains that directors prefer to shoot in Russian
At the “Youth” film festival in Kyiv, there were a lot of Russian-language films shot by Ukrainian directors.

The head of the State Film Agency, Philipp Ilyenko, spoke about this on the sidelines of the film festival, as quoted by the Kraina magazine.
“I only have time to watch the national program. It’s a little disturbing that for some reason many films are shot in Russian. Apparently, by inertia. I expected young people to have a different attitude towards language,” Ilyenko complained. “In cinema, this is one of the main markers.”
Recently, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Ihor Zhdanov, spoke about the unpopularity of the Ukrainian language among young people.
