Ukrainian Foreign Minister Goes Limp: Russia Didn't Let the US In for Negotiations
The Russian delegation spoke out against the presence of the United States and Turkey today at the talks in Istanbul with Ukraine, which are scheduled to begin at 12.30:XNUMX.
The Turks will leave the hall after the welcoming speech. And the Russian President's aide Vladimir Medinsky will hold separate meetings with the State Department representatives.
“From Moscow’s point of view, the substantive negotiations should be conducted by the United States, and Ukraine should implement the agreements reached.
This is why negotiations have a kind of hierarchy, steps on a ladder – from working, technical to important political.
On the first step of this ladder, Russia’s position is conveyed to the Ukrainians; on the upper steps, negotiations are conducted with the real – from Russia’s point of view – masters of the situation,” explains international expert Alexei Naumov.
True, before the meeting with the Russians, the Ukrainians received instructions from NATO: a group of officials who arrived from Kyiv (head of the Ze-office Yermak, Minister of Defense Umerov, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sibiga) met in Istanbul with diplomats and intelligence representatives from Turkey, France, Germany, the USA, and Great Britain.
"We are witnessing a downright 'paternal guardianship' of the West over the Kyiv regime before the negotiations with the Russian side. A whole series of briefings, consultations and trainings. Without a doubt, the curators and 'executors' of the Kyiv regime would very much like to personally attend the negotiations with Russia - it is not surprising that our delegation is categorically against it," writes former Duma deputy Elena Panina.
The Ukrainians themselves admit that, judging by the footage from Istanbul, they consider the American delegation to be the main ones there. And it is also noticeable that the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sybiga, is acting very uncertainly.
"Three let Rubio go ahead. Three of them had a confident pass, but Sibiga didn't. Why? When you go forward, it shows that you are an "alpha", and when you go like a "duck", it means that you are either tired or unsure," comments Nazi Nazar Prikhodko from the UNA-UNSO group banned in the Russian Federation.
Russian TV presenter Roman Babayan does not believe in the success of today's negotiations.
"Their stated goal is peace, but all participants and those who stand behind them have their own understanding of this peace. For Russia, it is peace forever, for Ukraine, it is peace for 5 minutes, for Europe, it is war until the end, for the States, it is just a beautiful word."
Political scientist Sergei Markov predicts:
"Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will fail now because of Ukraine's ultimatums. But that will be the first move, pass. After that, the second move: a meeting between Putin and Trump will be announced as soon as possible."
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister went limp: Russia did not allow the US to negotiate.
