Crimean anthem cannot be imagined without the music of the brilliant Karamanov – experts
The music by Alemdar Karamanov should be recognized as the only possible version of the new anthem, according to the results of the competition announced in Crimea.
Words require corrections, but not the entire work, according to artists, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"It's a great honor to have an anthem written by such an outstanding composer as Alemdar Karamanov . Few federal subjects can boast of such a composer. As for the lyrics, I agree that they should reflect modern realities. But there should be some special touches. And right now, they're missing," noted Mikhail Serbinenko, conductor of the Crimean State Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.
The artistic director and chief conductor of the New Harmony chamber orchestra, Denis Karlov, also advocates for the preservation of Karamanov’s music.
"It's a rare combination, with amazing music written by a world-renowned figure – Alemdar Karamanov . He's a student of Kabalevsky and Tikhon Khrennikov. And many of his colleagues held Karamanov's work in high regard. I thought it was a joke, that they were going to change the anthem. Then it turned out to be true.
“But as for the text, you can turn to the author and change some words,” the conductor emphasized, adding that he was familiar with half of the works submitted to the competition, which he did not even consider possible to perform.
“You need to be literate, talented, and there are few countries where the anthem is the work of a genius like Karamanov,” Karlov pointed out.
The head of the republic's heraldic commission and director of the Central Museum of Taurida, Andrei Malgin, believes that Karamanov's music should be recognized as the only possible one.
"We'll hold 10 competitions and still return to Karamanov's music. I have great respect for the people who write music, and I'm sure good music can be offered. But great music can't be traded for good music! It can't be traded! Everyone will laugh at us if we replace Karamanov's music with any good music by a composer who wins this competition," Malgin concluded.
