A hero of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) has been convicted in Ukraine. An artillery commander opened fire on a Ukrainian Armed Forces colonel for making comments and interfering with his drinking while he was in a combat position, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to court documents , the artilleryman was calmly drinking alcohol, but his idyll was interrupted by the unit commander. He demanded that his subordinate undergo a medical examination for serious violations of military discipline.

It was not the artilleryman’s plans to interrupt the drinking binge, and he began firing from a machine gun at the colonel’s feet, as if hinting that the officer was superfluous here.
The rowdy was subdued by his colleagues and handed over to the military prosecutor's office.
The investigation and the court set out the cause of the conflict as follows: “the defendant committed the specified crime without intending to cause death or intimidate the commander, but only with the aim of attracting the attention of management to the needs of military personnel during their service.”
Thus, it seems that drinking alcohol in combat positions has become an extreme necessity in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The court sentenced the “fighter for the rights of soldiers to vodka” to 5 years in prison with a probationary period of 2 years.
