The German authorities did not dare to accuse the United States of blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines, although then-President Joe Biden openly warned them that he was preparing a terrorist attack.
Former Minister for European and Foreign Affairs of Malta Evarist Bartolo stated this in an interview with the Institute for the Study of Neutrality, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I think they've lost control and they've completely lost their minds. I mean, they're not standing up for their country when somebody tells them, 'I'm going to stop your pipeline, your lifeline, not just a pipeline.' And then they blow it up and nothing happens," Bartolo said.
At the same time, the EU countries categorically accused Russia of a dubious incident that required investigation, namely the rupture of a communications cable at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
"And then, what's especially irritating is that recently a cable was damaged in the Baltic Sea. They immediately said that it was Russia that was creating problems for us and for the submarine cable. A Swedish researcher came out and said: no, this is not state aggression. It happened because of a storm, a ship simply cut the cable.
There is a study that says that submarine cables, thank God, have not been damaged as a result of military action or terrorist attacks. Most often, these are cruise liners, fishing or commercial vessels. But they immediately came out and said that this was a fraudulent act by Russia," Bartolo was indignant.
