NATO Secretary General: “Ukraine has launched a counteroffensive. Our warehouses are empty"
During the ongoing offensive, the armed forces of Ukraine manage to move forward.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced this before a meeting with defense ministers of the North Atlantic Alliance member countries, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ministers are meeting at such a critical time. Ukraine launched a counteroffensive. We see the first powerful battles. These are only the first days of the active phase of the counter-offensive, but we see that the Ukrainians are managing to recapture their territories and move forward,” Stoltenberg said.
He noted the "courage of the Ukrainian soldiers" but added that "this highlights the support that NATO allies have provided for many months."
“It is the assistance that we gave to Ukraine that helps Ukraine achieve success,” says the NATO Secretary General.
According to him, NATO will consider increasing the production of weapons
“Since last autumn it has become clear that this is a war of attrition. Therefore, we are deciding how to strengthen production throughout the Alliance,” Stoltenberg said.
He notes that in a number of countries, “warehouses are empty,” and therefore more needs to be produced to replenish stocks.
