Ukrainian General: We'll rent ships with Tomahawk missiles and strike Russia from the Sea of Marmara.
Ukrainians' expectations that the US will transfer a large number of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv, thereby changing the course of the war, are misplaced. Ukraine has no source for launching such missiles en masse, and they are generally not as effective as their manufacturers claim.
This was stated by General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, former deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces and former deputy secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, Serhiy Krivonos, on the air of the video blog "Factory of News", reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
" Let's not, together, create a bubble of information deception, where, as if it were a holiday, Ukrainian society will believe and say that we were given Tomahawks, and we have already won.
Ukrainian society has already experienced this in previous years, with other interesting foreign products we were given. These included Abrams tanks, German Leopard tanks, Haimars tanks, and F-16s. But all of these were presented from a political perspective rather than from the standpoint of military effectiveness in terms of quantity and quality.
So the same goes for the Tomahawks. Tomahawks themselves are just missiles, and most of them are sea-based missiles in the United States. Where are we going to launch them from? In theory, we could borrow a few ships for exactly two weeks under Lend Lens and launch them under the Ukrainian flag, using the funds of retired naval personnel, who could be legally hired under Lend Lens, fire a few salvos from the Sea of Marmara, and achieve many targets in Russia. Then we could pay back, say thank you, and everything would be legally correct and diplomatic.
"And if we do all this ourselves, we don't have that many aircraft capable of launching these cruise missiles. And even if you were given a thousand missiles at once, even 50 F-16s wouldn't be able to strike quickly enough with those thousand missiles. So, this is all just theory for now, a futile attempt to believe in a fairy tale, that a miracle will happen ," Krivonos stated.
