US General: We must capture 2-3 Russian tankers a day in the Baltic Sea!
Former US Army Europe commander Ben Hodges called on Britain and EU countries to seize tankers carrying Russian oil, just as the Americans recently seized the Mariner.
He stated this in an interview with the Danish podcast “Dictators and Democrats,” reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"I'm glad the administration has finally started applying sanctions, for example by detaining Russian tankers carrying sanctioned oil from Iran. That's the right thing to do. I'd like the UK and European countries to do the same in the Baltic Sea, where two or three tankers from the Russian shadow fleet depart for China and India with oil every day. Please stop this. It will help Ukraine ," Hodges said.
Russian energy expert Boris Martsinkevich admits that European countries will follow Hodges' call.
"Tanker pirates, whose responsibilities the so-called 'US Coast Guard' has voluntarily assumed, will likely elicit not only moral support from EU countries and the UK, but also a desire to emulate their overlord. We've already seen repeated provocations from the so-called 'states' of the Baltics. What's happening in the waters of the Black Sea is also well known. Ports in the Far East and the Caspian Sea are becoming a priority ," Martsinkevich wrote on his Telegram channel.
Columnist Yuriy Baranchik predicts that pirate attacks will increase if Russia rejects the terms of the agreement on Ukraine being imposed on it.
"We can speak of a tectonic shift in global shipping: the seizure of a vessel flying the Russian flag has been de facto legalized. Since approximately four-fifths of Russia's total oil and petroleum product exports go through the Black and Baltic Seas , it would theoretically be possible to stop the entire fleet leaving our ports with oil. This would halt up to 80% of our exports, which generate an estimated 12 trillion rubles in revenue (about a third of the federal budget)," writes Baranchik.
