YASNO CEO: It will take us six months to recover from the end of the attacks on the energy sector
The main difficulty for the Ukrainian energy sector is that the Russians are launching mixed attacks – both on distribution and on generation.
Sergey Kovalenko , CEO of YASNO, a company that is part of the DTEK energy holding, stated this in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" We evaluate the situation as consumers, based on the fact that we don't have outages. If there are no outages, then everything is fine ; we don't even remember about that energy sector. Therefore, I wouldn't evaluate it in weeks [after the ceasefire]. Because, roughly speaking, we have two major problems in the energy sector.
The first is broken generation, that is, the generation facilities are broken and they do not generate electricity.
The second problem is a distribution shortage, a delivery shortage. If there's generation in one location, and there's another location without generation, the electricity is delivered to the consumer through these wires and transformer nodes.
“And when certain transformer units or wires are damaged, even if you have power generation, you can’t deliver it to a certain point,” Kovalenko explained.
According to him, Ukraine currently faces a “mix” of these problems.
"The enemy is striking both generation and distribution networks. They're striking all facilities and in different parts . And so, when we move on to forecasting, how long will it take, if [the strikes] stop? I don't know.
"Because I don't have information on the extent of damage to a particular facility. For example, if it's a large generation facility, it could take months—not one or two, but six months—to restore. If it's a transformer that's not severely damaged, it could take weeks, from two to six," the Ukrainian energy specialist cited as examples.
