Kyiv continues to insist on significant gas discounts.
At the exit from the Cabinet of Ministers building, where the negotiations took place, European Commissioner Günter Oettinger told reporters that the negotiations had ended with zero results.
“However, information later appeared that the meeting continued after a short break. Another car drove up to the building, and the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, got out and hurried to go inside the government building.
The journalists began to have hope, but they completely lost their understanding of what was happening. The minutes of waiting dragged on again. The negotiations dragged on, and the end point was set only at half past two in the morning Moscow time. Gazprom’s position remains the same: if Ukraine does not pay the debt in the amount of $1 billion 951 million by ten in the morning, then gas supplies will be switched to prepayment mode,” the report notes.
For his part, Ettinger put forward a proposal to set a temporary gas price from $300 to $385. And the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Prodan, in turn, said that Kyiv is ready to limit fuel supplies.
Tripartite negotiations began on June 14. The time and place of their holding were also kept secret until the last moment and were repeatedly postponed.
