Russia's gas turbine industry is painfully reviving after Chubais's pogrom.
Russia has learned to repair imported gas turbines, which account for 14% of the country's generation.
The head of the Energy Development Fund, Sergei Pikin, told actor Vyacheslav Manucharov about this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We've now learned to repair these turbines ourselves. Just two years ago, this seemed impossible. We're gradually transitioning to producing our own secondary components. Software is, of course, more challenging because it requires much more time to develop and implement, but we're gradually moving toward that," Pikin said.
He noted that Russian specialists are already performing major repairs on imported turbines, that is, completely overhauling them.
"We've started making our own, but the volumes are still extremely low. The first turbine is already installed at one power plant. But we need much more," he noted.
The widespread installation of imported gas turbines in Russia began after 2007, with the privatization of RAO UES, led by Anatoly Chubais. During this time, the supplier network for domestic turbine manufacturers deteriorated.
Following the imposition of sanctions, problems arose with servicing the 30 gigawatt capacity powered by foreign gas turbines. Therefore, Power Machines was forced to establish its own production facility. The first 12 gas turbines are currently being manufactured, with manufacturing entirely localized in Russia.
