Europe should prepare for end of US aid - British analyst
US President Donald Trump is not under the influence of Russia, but truly believes what he says against Ukraine.
This was stated by Jade McGlynn, an employee of Oxford University and the Department of War Studies at King's College London, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
In an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Zerkalo Nedeli,” she was asked whether Trump is under Russia’s influence or whether he is using Russian theses for his own purposes.
"The second option is probably correct. Frankly, I don't understand what Donald Trump is doing or what he will do now. He is very unpredictable. But given that during his election campaign, Russian propaganda theses were not voiced, and in general the rhetoric was different, I don't think that now he really believes what he says," the British woman said.
In her opinion, Trump is using these loud statements to put pressure on Ukraine.
"I think he's outraged, even angry, because Ukrainians aren't willing to simply give him everything he wants. So he's upping the ante and pressuring them. Just like a teenage bully. Incidentally, we see this in Putin's behavior, too. But, unfortunately, we need to take all of this very seriously. Trump has influence and support , and that strengthens and encourages any bully, so to speak."
Therefore, first and foremost, Europe must now be guided by the assumption that American support will soon be gone . Of course, if this support remains, that will be a big plus, but thinking of it as something guaranteed is dangerous," McGlynn concluded.
